Condition Monitoring of TRANSFORMERS
Combination of NDT techniques is what is needed to conduct condition monitoring of Transformers. Thermography and Ultrasound inspections are the techniques with which we can monitor Transformers – Electrical Systems (Panels) effectively.

Condition Monitoring of Transformer
A. Periodic Thermography of Transformer helps identify and monitor the following parameters.
1. If the oil level reduces below radiator entry pipe, the oil doesn’t enter in radiator and hence, no heat transfer & cooling ultimately the windings get overheated and results in explosion of transformer. The oil level remains unseen by human eyes but with periodic Thermography inspection, we can restrict such transformer failures.
2. Blocking or chocking of transformer radiators
3. Electrical Conductor Weakness: “Barber Pole Effect” All the strands in a conductor may not got crimped or few broken or because of heavily oxidized doesn’t carry current and the remaining strands those carrying current gets over loaded.
B. Ultrasound of Transformer helps detection corona, tracking and arcing.

The rates depend upon the combination of techniques and also upon the tenure of contract with exclusive discounts for five year contracts.
